LCS Series
Electronic All-metal Separators for slowly moving material columns
The LCS separators are used for metal separation in slowly moving material columns.
The LCS gives the "last chance" to detect and reject harmful metallic particles,
prior to their disappearing into the processing machine. Thus damage to extruder nozzles and toolings or blockage in the hot-runner system is avoided.
The stable and heavy duty housing can be utilised as a mounting for mixers, dryers and
hopper loaders.
If you are using virgin or recycled plastic material in:
- Extruders or
- Injection moulding machines
the LCS will protect your valuable equipment from damages, caused by harmful metal parts.
Operating principle:
The LCS is preferably mounted on the infeed of extruders or injection moulding machines.
As the slowly moving material column passes through the LCS, metallic particles are detected
in the search coil.
The search coil with the metallic contamination is moved into the reject position by a
pneumatic cylinder. A sluice plate stops the material flow. The metallic particles are
rejected with a small amount of good material.
After the metal rejection the sensor slide returns into the starting position.
Your advantages:
- Protection of extruders and injection molding machines
- For demetallization of slowly moving material columns
- Useable for vertical and angled conveying lines and tubing systems
- Heavy duty housing
- Fully automatic function
Details:
Due to the fully automatic function of the LCS, the use in continually running production plants is possible.
Because of the rapid material outlet it is even possible to protect extruders without interrupting the material flow.
In contrast to the machines of the HS series, the units of the LCS series are not used for "free falling products" but for detection of metallic particles in a slowly moving material column. If metal is detected, the metal separation is done fully automatical by a pneumatic cylinder.
The models:
| Type | Inlet diameter | Sensitivity* |
| LCS 050 | ø 50 mm | 2,0 mm |
| LCS 070 | ø 70 mm | 2,5 mm |
| LCS 100 | ø 100 mm | 3,0 mm |
*) Maximum sensitivity refers to the diameter of a steel ball. If material column is m oving very slowly, a loss of sensitivity is possible.
